Acting Head of Development – Tate Liverpool

Client
Tate Liverpool is part of Tate, along with Tate Britain, Tate Modern and Tate St Ives. Tate is responsible for the national collection of British art from 1500 to the present day and international modern and contemporary art. Tate’s mission is to promote the public understanding and enjoyment of British, modern and contemporary art.

Objectives
Counterculture’s Zoe McLeod was appointed Acting Head of Development at Tate Liverpool for four months: to manage the Development team through a period of organisational change during the creation of a new employment structure at Tate Liverpool; to lead the organisation’s fundraising activity; and to foster new ways of collaborative working with Tate in London.

Actions
Zoe worked closely with the Executive Director on the senior management team to manage transition and organisational change, and to establish a closer collaborative relationship with Tate’s London-based development team. She was responsible for a development team of three and she ensured annual fundraising targets were met – especially with a range of new corporate partners.

Results
A period of change and restructuring was managed with success and sensitivity. Fundraising targets were met and Zoe established closer collaboration between departments, ensuring that staff teams felt supported throughout this process of integration and new ways of working.
