Simon Evans – Senior Consultant

Simon is a charity accounting specialist with eight years’ experience. His Counterculture clients include Liverpool Students’ Union, Norfolk and Norwich Festival, De La Warr Pavilion, Legacy List, Rambert Dance Company and the Poetry Translation Centre. Simon trained with the accounting firm Kingston Smith, leading specialists in creative industries accounting. He is an ACCA passed finalist and an AAT member, and he holds a degree in Business from Liverpool John Moores University. 

Sherine Robin – Finance Manager and Consultant

Sherine is Counterculture’s Finance Manager and a client-consultant. Her clients include University of the Arts Students’ Union and London School of Economics Students’ Union.

Before joining Counterculture Sherine worked in finance at the Whitechapel Gallery for eight years – including the gallery’s £13.5 million re-development – and for the Diocese of the Church of England in Sri Lanka. Outside work, Sherine is a teacher at her church Sunday school.

Laura Marsden - Solicitor

Laura is a Solicitor at Counterculture, based in Manchester. She provides advice on company law, intellectual property, music and entertainment law, internet and e-commerce law, data protection, governance and charity law to a range of clients in the music, arts, heritage, media and charity sectors.

She has a BA in English & Philosophy from the University of Manchester, and was a professional musician for several years before returning to university and law school.  Prior to joining Counterculture, Laura worked in the Music Department at ITV where she project managed the Manchester Cluster of the Legal Social Mobility Partnership 2015.

Still very passionate about music and with a great deal of industry experience behind her, Laura enjoys working with musicians, composers and publishers, providing bespoke advice on a range of contractual, legal and commercial issues. She also writes and produces music in her spare time.

Kathryn Worthington - Legal Assistant

Kathryn studied Drama and Theatre Arts at Goldsmiths College, University of London. During her degree she worked at Theatre Peckham in Southwark where she learnt hands on arts management and gained her Equity card. After training at at the Birmingham School of Acting she was a professional actor for ten years and also worked administratively for several arts organisations. Between 2011-2014 Kathryn was Festival Director of the 24:7 Theatre Festival, a development platform for new theatre makers in Manchester and immediately prior to joining Counterculture she was General Manager for Full Circle Arts, an inclusive organisation supporting disabled artists.  

Kathryn has been studying Law part time since 2008: she has a first class LLB from Northumbria University and is about to complete her LPC at MMU. She is delighted to be able to join her arts experience and legal training together at Counterculture as their new Legal Assistant.  

Olivia Long - Operations Manager

Olivia Long

Olivia is the Operations Manager at Counterculture. Olivia oversees the firm's client management, administrative and internal processes.

Olivia’s background is in technology and performing arts. Before joining the Counterculture team, Olivia facilitated huge organisational growth as Office Coordinator for Spektrix: an arts ticketing, marketing and fundraising software company. Olivia also worked as an assistant to Counterculture associate Duncan Ackery and as Marketing Assistant at arts centre Omnibus Clapham. Olivia has worked for Platform Theatre, Tricycle Theatre and Hampstead Theatre, and has a first class BA Honours degree in Drama and Theatre Studies from Liverpool Hope University.
